portmanteau formed from plus and logiciel, proposed by the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF). The plugiciel is a 'plus' because it enhances the capabilities of the main software. In France, the term module d'extension and its elliptical form extension were adopted by the Commission générale de terminologie et de néologie.
