bigle
This word is derived from bis (two) and oculus (eye). It therefore means 'double eye', like the Spanish bisojo (squinting). Although the mutilation is strong, what can support this etymology, which remains doubtful, is the c in bicle from Geneva and Paré, and icle in the patois word bournicle (one-eyed). Nothing should be inferred from this for besicle, whose etymology is given not by conjecture, but by the series of forms.
