bigle

This word is derived from bis (two) and oculus (eye). It therefore means 'double eye', like the Spanish bisojo (cross-eyed). Although the mutilation is strong, what can support this etymology, which remains doubtful, is the c in bicle from Geneva and Paré, and icle in the patois word bournicle (one-eyed). Nothing should be inferred from this for besicle, whose etymology is given not by conjecture, but by the series of forms.
