supposément

derived from the verb to suppose with the suffix -ment; although this word is not recorded in all French dictionaries - but see -, it is well formed and many occurrences are found (stéphane-andré collard, terminologist). it is undoubtedly a literal translation, in mirror, of the English adverb supposedly, "so-called, as it is supposed, as it was supposed". thus, it is found in the writings of julien green, but his native language is English (even though he was born and raised in France).
