requinqueran obscure word of origin, popularized by a song, in the time of François I, where an old coquettish woman was mocked for trying to adorn herself like a young woman, and whose refrain was: 'requinque yourself, old woman, requinque yourself'. It is given as Picard by some, see quinquin, but was also known in Provence.
