feinter

verb

Syllable Decomposition

feinter

from 'feinte', feminine past participle and deverbal of the verb 'feindre'. This verb, however, is not the strict synonym of 'feindre', responds to a linguistic rule which wants the speaker to prefer the regular verbs of the first group to those of the third (which, in the long run, are thus replaced). See in this respect the neologism 'solutionner' which supplants 'résoudre'.
