from couillon with the suffix -ade. coyonade is found in the sense of "an act of cowardice" in Monluc's comments (1592), Flaubert uses couillonnade in the sense of "stupidity" in his correspondence (1856): I am frightened, horrified, scandalized by the transcendent couillonnade that reigns over humans.
