verb
Syllable Decomposition
chabaniserFrench political neologism: addition of the suffix -ise to chaban, the name by which jacques chaban-delmas, former prime minister of georges pompidou, was familiarly known. During the 1974 presidential election, he was widely outdistanced by valéry giscard d'estaing in the first round, although he appeared likely to win. Indeed, although he was the majority on the right of the political spectrum, his own political party, the udr, which represented the gaullist family, split into two camps. Under the impetus of jacques chirac, one of the components preferred to rally to the center-right candidacy of the minister of finance, valéry giscard d'estaing.
