from brachiosaurus, a name created in 1903 by Elmer Samuel Riggs from the Ancient Greek βραχίων brachiôn (arm) with the Latin suffix -saurus (-saure), particularly used for dinosaur names, and which comes from the Ancient Greek σαῦρος saurus (lizard), literally meaning "arm lizard".
