attraire

verb

Syllable Decomposition

attraire

from Latin attrahere. Just as the simple verb traire has been replaced by tirer (except in the specialized field of animal husbandry), the compound attraire has given way to attirer. Common language has retained two participial forms, one becoming a noun (attrait) and the other an adjective (attrayant). This verb is now only used in the legal domain, mainly in the infinitive.
